The Art of Christine Earhart

Melbourne, Australia 1991-1993

Melbourne. WOW!  Lucky us!  We lived outside of Melbourne in a town called Donvale.  Our house was down a steep,  curvy drive with a pool and tennis court in the back, a stream behind the property and we looked up a hill with lots of trees and horses.  We had a blue tonged lizard who often lounged on the rocks by our front door and the cockatoos, kookaburras and magpies kept us company. My husband had a couple of mates to bike with, mountains as well as around the bay.  Jeff and Suzanne were immersed in the Aussie life in and out of school.  I did the mom things as well as needle crafts, gardening and organizing trips around Australia and New Zealand for us.  Since we couldn’t take our dogs with us, we had Gaby, a miniature poodle, join our family in Melbourne.  Aboriginal symbols of a lizard, a long necked turtle,  a witchetty grub and two dreaming scenes are free motion stitched in some of the patch work squares.
